After sitting outside for nearly 20 years, this 1979 Pontiac 10th Anniversary Trans Am received a fairly extensive restoration when it was discovered by its current owner.

Sheet metal replacement consisted of a  driver-side door skin, driver-side door shell repair, a passenger-side quarter panel skin, and rear body panel repair.  The bumpers and flares were repaired as well.  All the body work was completed and the car was  primed and blocked several times, to assure the body was straight.  The  car was repainted in its original two-tone color scheme and received an original style graphics kit.

Transtar products were used throughout the  job due to their user friendliness.  The Transtar products used on this  project consisted of epoxy primer, Euro Classic Primer, Hydro Flex Waterborne Primer, No Mix Low VOC BasecoatEuro Kwik Clear, SCAT Wax and Grease Remover, Urethane Grade  Reducer, Kwik Seal 2k Urethane Sealer, Transtar Seam Sealer, and the complete  Transtar Ultimate Finish System compounds and glazes.  The results speak for themselves.

On Patriot Day (September 11), at the Northeast Ohio Camaro Club’s annual Fall Classic Car Show, the American Pride Camaro made its debut. This extremely detailed piece of art was completed by Mountain Muscle Cars in Cosby, Tennessee and all the airbrushed artwork was done freehand by Mickey Harris.

The American Pride Camaro, a new 2011 Camaro,  is completely covered in iconic American images. The mural covering the car tells ‘the story of America’ from George Washington crossing the Delaware to the present day. Images of American leaders, soldiers and eagles cover the vehicle. The whole project took several hundred hours to complete and leading up to its debut, Mountain Muscle cars and Harris worked 23 days straight, 12-14 hours each day to get the car ready to show to the public.

After the images were carefully painted on, using water-based paints, the American Pride Camaro was sprayed with Signature Series Glamour Clear – a premium, high solids clearcoat. Greg Fodness, owner of Moutain Muscle Cars said, “Transtar Glamour Clear is a very high quality topcoat, giving us excellent results when completing high end projects like the American Pride Camaro.”

The American Pride Camaro will be touring major events nationwide over the next year, so look for it in a city near you!

Last month, Transtar was featured in an article on the front page of the Journal Inquirer, a daily newspaper covering most of north-central Connecticut.  Transtar worked with Kar Kare in Ellington, CT to help restore a 1986 Iroc-Z Camaro for Staff Sgt. Shaun Thomas.

The article explains how Sgt. Thomas was redeployed back to Afghanistan last November and before he left, he asked his mother to sell his ’86 Camaro. His mother, who looks after his two young sons while he’s away, didn’t want to sell the car he had  had since he was 20 and was rebuilding himself (it had been in an accident before his deployment).

Sgt. Thomas’ mother called up every shop in town until she reached Brian Deschaine at Kar Kare who found the story so moving, he and his crew decided to give back to a soldier who had given up so much for his country. When Transtar heard about this story from our local rep in the area, Mark Smith, we jumped at the chance to help out. We donated paint and primer so Kar Kare could give the soldier’s car a custom paint job.

Completely redone from the inside out, Sgt. Thomas’ old ’86 Camaro looks brand new thanks to the hard work and determination of his family, Kar Kare and everyone else who pitched in to help give something back to someone who has given us so much.

Over the past few years, Seth Boldman and his team at Aggressive Designs have created seven custom bikes for magician Criss Angel. However, this year alone, Aggressive Designs created four one-of-a-kind custom painted bikes for the superstar.

The guys at Aggressive Designs used Transtar’s Glamour Clear and Factory Pack Empress Black Basecoat LV-905 to finish this latest bike for Angel. Seth says he likes to use Glamour Clear because it’s “forgiving, doesn’t wrinkle, and covers well if you have to cover over a burn from buffing.”

To make these custom designs, Angel brings ideas to the table from t-shirts, sketches, drawings on napkins, etc. and then gives Seth freedom to run with it and create incredible designs. Each bike takes about 1-2 weeks to complete, depending on the complexity of the graphics.

Seth Boldman, owner and designer at Aggressive Designs, recently painted a one-of-a-kind microphone and microphone stand for Christina Aguilera’s 2010 MTV Movie Award performance. Made from start to finish using Transtar products, the stand and mic were finished off with Transtar’s Glamour Clear (#9461) to give it the perfect shine on stage.

The candy apple red stand is composed of ‘lips’ stacked one on top of another with an old race car steering wheel as the base. The mic matches the stand’s candy apple red and reads ‘Xtina’ in a tattoo script. Though the mic set was made specifically for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, Aguilera was so pleased with Boldman’s work that she is taking the mic set on tour.

Boldman took two days to finish the product and said that Aguilera was looking for the mic set to ‘match her red lips’. This is not the first time Boldman has created a unique design for Aguilera and does custom work for other celebrities including Lady Gaga and Tom Cruise.
