2K Epoxy Primer/Sealer 6164QuestionI'm in the process of renovating a 1967 Chevrolet Nova and am having problems with "fish eyes" when priming the body with 6164 2K Epoxy Primer/Sealer.
I have stripped the original lacquer-checked finish with an 80 grit disc, and have successfully 2K epoxy primed the front panels using Henkel's Metal prep to eliminate any pinpoint corrosion. Using the same techniques, I have encountered a significant number of fish eyes on the body top. I have not had any luck by using a cleaner or lacquer thinner and reapplying the epoxy. I've used 6164 on several projects with very good results. I've been very careful to avoid contamination, but am getting a little frustrated with this top. Is fish-eye eliminator compatible with 6164? Any other suggestions? AnswerFish eye eliminator can be used in very small quantities with epoxy. Eliminating the source of the contamination would be the best thing to do though.
Please feel free to call one of our technical service representatives to discuss this in more detail so we can try to eliminate the problem completely. Our techs can be reached at 800 824 2843.
