Super Sand Primer 6051

Question

  1. What is the pot life on Transtar Super Sand Primer #6051 once it is mixed?
  2. Can this primer be used on bare metal and does it have anti-rust properties?
  3. Can this primer be used over top of your other primers?
  4. Is it ok to use base coat/clear coat paint over top of this primer?

  1. 6051 is a 1K primer which does not use a hardener so there is no pot life on this product.
  2. 6051 is not designed to be a direct to metal primer, so for best results you should use a self-etching primer such as 6111 on bare metal which can be sanded and top coated.
    • 6051 works well as a surfacer over body work and provides excellent filling and sanding qualities.
    • If you’re looking for a primer surfacer that can also be applied direct to metal we suggest 7244 Euro Classic Primer.
  3. Yes, this primer can be used over our other primers, after sanding with the appropriate grit sand paper.
  4. Yes, this primer can be topcoated with basecoat/clearcoat after sanding with 320 followed by 500 grit sand paper.
